Internships and professional work experiences

since 1983
Involved in various projects in the field of landscape management and nature protection and other monitoring surveys (urban wildlife habitats inventories, Use of GIS for Nature protection purposes, etc.) In charge of the project “Stadtbiotopkartierung Freiburg”
since 1988
Long term research in the Arctic. Founder of the Groupe de Recherche en Ecologie Arctique. Initiation and leadership of a long term research on lemming cycles in the Karupelv Valley Study site in the NE Greenland National Park.
2000 - 2006
In charge of pluridisciplinary project devoted to impacts of flooding on forest stands
since 2000
Research in Landscape history and use of airborne laser scanning to document landscape changes related to one of the greatest ridge and furrow sites in South West Germany, initiation of a interdisciplinary working group.

Research and outreach interests

  • Development of European cultural landscapes
  • Basic research in ecology / ecology of arctic species
  • Use of Airborne laser scanning (LiDAR) to document landscape changes
  • Translation services specialized in environmental management and nature protection (language combinations French - German - English)
